Target Corp
Target gave me a call back much sooner than expected! I got a call back on my way home from work this early evening explaining about round two of the interviewing process.
So, I will be heading to interview twice on June 25th! It'll be downtown in the morning, apparently for breakfast and a speaker. Then I'll interview twice and take their assessment test. Hhmm, what else do I know...
I'd interview on June 25th. Other info I know- I could do their 10 week training on July 28th or push it back to September 22nd since I'll be a bit busy around the end of July. It's Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Give and take a hour or so. It pays $16 an hour. That'd be nice!
Should I ask about benefits? Nah, probably not until I interview huh? I just want to make sure it's Target Staff not contracting. Let me know.
Would you help me and ask me questions about questions I might get asked from Target so I can prepare? Would you notify me of any assessment type questions they might ask? Can you hook me up with a website or a person to look over?
Anyway, let's hope things turn out well and thanks for your help!
On another subject this is the suit I got from Macy's last weekend.

Memorial Day Weekend Happenings
Well, hi there.
It was back to work for me on this Tuesday. But it wasn't without a little Memorial Day and weekend enjoyment.
Friday
Katy and I got it off quickly with a movie with Nick and Becca Friday night!
Oh wait wait wait! Even before that I called Katy because I needed her opinion on a suit I found at Macy's. I was at lunch browsing around the stores looking for dress shirts and pants for Adam's ushers. Well, I stumbled upon a nice light gray suit in the Perry Ellis section. I liked it enough and the price checker was close enough that I could scan it without wasting too much time. Well, I did and the $89.50 pants scanned at $9.99! Are you crazy! Then I was even more curious after deciding I'd definitely get the pants. I walked back over, grabbed the suit jacket and it scanned at $19.99! No way! I grabbed my size(s) and put them on hold for later so I could try them on. Well, I tried it on later, it fit well and then in the end made off with three suits for $90! Sweet deal! We ended up getting mine but we bought two for Josh to try on, which he did and he kept one of the others and I returned the third. So, that's my rehearsal dinner outfit!
We went to see The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian. I enjoyed it. I only looked at the time once, and that means it was entertaining enough to contain my restless legs. That is sort of one of my ways to critique a movie, how many times I look at my watch and how restless my legs get. The fewer times I look and the less I move my legs, more than likely the more I liked it. It was long though, somewhere north of two hours and 10 minutes or so. After that I took every one out for a shared dessert because Nick's birthday a few days before.
(On a side note about movies though, since I watch so many now because Katy is such a big fan, I'm going to work on developing some good movie review skills. So, if you know of any good sites to help me in that process let me know!)
Saturday
Saturday morning Katy and I drove to the outlets in Albertville. We had a few specific things we were looking for so we decided to give them a shot since Rosedale was getting tired. My shopping luck continued at Ralph Lauren where I found a custom fit spread collar dress shirt for $39.99, which is what I'll also have on for my wedding day. I also grabbed a sleeveless running shirt for 15 bucks. What a steal.
Then we randomly called Josh and Laura and ended up going to Pizza Luce for some yummy Mediterranean and Classic pizza! It's so tasty! That was also when we fit Josh for his $30 suit.
Sunday
We enjoyed a BBQ at Bob and Deb's Sunday before all of the gray, cold and twisters ran though. We had some tasty burgers, garlic and rosemary chicken, watermelon, salad, and corn on the cob!
Monday
I FINALLY changed out my closet from winter to summer. That was an enjoyable task. Then Adam and I got together to look at Rosedale for his summer wedding ushers outfits. We ended up finding some nice threads at Express. So, cross that off of his list.
Then Katy and I got together for dinner and hung out for a little bit.
While I was at the mall I found out our assistant store manager had her house completely demolished by the tornado that ran through Hugo, MN. Yikes. She has nothing from what I heard at work this morning. At least she didn't get hurt other than a few bumps and bruises.
News
I also had my Target interview this morning. I think it went pretty well. It was for about a half hour in my car after I went to work this morning. She asked a good deal of questions which I had some good, some un-ordinary answers for. She said she'd get back to me hopefully by Friday to let me know what the next step would be. Hopefully, it's good news!
Also on the news front; Katy and I have been approved for our apartment next to the Target on Snelling! Yay! That's a pretty nice thing to have off of our back.
That that is about it for now. I have sort of lost my train of thought.
Today's Takeaway-Life is a test and a trust.
Oh yeah, and if you get this far down here is my Birthday list-if you even so choose to get me something.
Cash. Gift card to Banana Republic, Gap, Herbs or Bon Ton, Macy's, Target, Gas and I had a couple other ideas but I forgot them. Told you I need to go to bed. Lata.

Stimulation
Recently, I went on a spending spree.
I charged $328.30 on my Mastercard. I went to Target and blew $98 on food. I got 17 dollars worth of hair cut. I took Katy to Applebee's for the tune of 27 dollars for a nice meal, or two. I thought about charging up my Herbs credit card a couple hundred bucks but haven't done that quite yet.
That's right. I went on a spending spree and spent alot of money! Luckily the money wasn't mine. It came from D.C. It was awful nice of them to share some money with me and I sure do hope that they shared with you too!
Apartment Hunting
Katy and I toured two places at the Larpenteur Estates on Thursday afternoon. It was a one bedroom with 780 square feet, kitchen and place for dining room separate from living room, a bathroom of good size and decent closet space for $725 or $745. (We had two to choose from.)
But we toured the RoseMall Apartments a while ago, got an appointment to look at one but it was canceled because another person had a shot at it. But we got a call back last Friday afternoon, Katy looked at it and took it Saturday morning! It's 880 sq feet for $705. It's on the ground/basement level so we don't have a walk out deck or patio but Katy said there was enough light coming into it that it would work. As I like a house with alot of light. It's got a nice size living room and a small spot for a dining room across from a galley kitchen. It's one bedroom too. I think you can probably pull up a floor plan on the link above. Hhmm, maybe not.
So, we have an apartment thanks to Katy! I'm happy about it. Oh yeah, it's just off of Snelling. It's right next to the Target just off of Snelling. Close to a library, Har-Mar and Rosedale and easy access to Highway 36. So, that's that. :)
Job Update
I have a phone interview for a Merchandise Specialist job with Target downtown on Wednesday at 1:30. I'm really looking forward to it because I think I can get it, and am looking forward to giving it a good shot so Katy and I are not completely broke after two months of marriage. I think it entails alot of what I've been doing at Herbs for a while but with more emphasis on behind the scenes tasking. ( ie should pay more) So, talk to me...and pray for me...for a good fit.
Life
Oh yeah, Em's got me talking to a Life Coach too. Apparently my life needs help but it's so far in shambles she just can't talk to me. ;) No, but really, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing what Matt has to say and how I can benefit from his question asking.
We finished talking with Sid tonight about expectations. It was our sixth visit with him and it's been fun talking about anything and everything, the big and the small.
Today's Takeaway(s)-Live with purpose.
There is more than the here and now.

Mother's Day 2008
Happy Mother's Day!
I got a chance to talk to two of the three in my family. It was fun to talk to Mom and Emily for a while.
It was a day where Katy and I went to church and then to McD's for lunch before looking for an apartment and watching some television for a while. We also watched the Red Sox and Twins on TV and ate a blizzard from DQ.
Quite a day. Lot's more to do though...
Today's Takeaway-I am not an accident.

The Weekend Activity
Nick, Katy and I ran the Twin Cities 1 Mile this Thursday night in Downtown Minneapolis. Results here.
We were there so early we wandered around Loring Park, where the race started, and then wandered to the Walker and saw the spoon and the cherry up close. I had never seen it before, I don't think. So Nick and I ran most of the race together and finished running down Nicollet Avenue in 6:42ish. Katy came in running a couple minutes later. Suffice to say, we all need more practice.
Nick drove and this was one of the cars in front of us.
I agree.
Saturday night Katy and I went to the Red Sox-Twins game! The Red Sox won 5-2 and we went to batting practice a couple hours before the game started and saw Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz and Kevin Youkilis smash the ball all around the field. It was fun but I still have yet to catch my first major league ball.
We sat next to a guy and his wife and kid who was from New Jersey, but was a Sox fan. That's kind of odd to see that combo.

KSTP? Help!?
KSTP has two part time production assistant jobs open. Click here for the link for the job description.
Here are some of the other specs.
It would be mornings and weekends or a 2pm to 11pm shift. I'd be able to work 8-25 hours a week. They have the schedule out two weeks in advance. If I worked PT for them, I'd have to make them the primary scheduler and work around them, not vice versa. There are no benefits. I would sort scripts, maintain fixtures, operate the prompter and light boards and do some maintenance-such as changing light bulbs and cleaning.
It's a non-union job so I'd potentially be able to use camera equipment to maybe create my own tape. Stress on maybe. I'd also have the potential to get a FT production assistant job, or switch over to the newsroom to be a producer or something to that effect.
What do you suggest? Email me at jrdisch@yahoo.com
So...seriously, if you're reading this...you are required to email me. Thanks.
I've got some thoughts...but I'm not going to spill them now.
The only thing I will say is why in the world am I struggling with a sore throat, busted sinuses, headaches and soreness! It's not winter!
Over and out.

An Ultimate Interest
Learning is one of my ultimate interests.
I wish I could do more of it with more of a passion, a purpose and an eagerness.
Maybe tonight I should learn about sore throats! Darn it!
Here is what I learned/observed on this May day. People need things explained clearly, twice. Some people need it explained, twice, then they need to do it. It's just how it works.
I learned alot in counseling. Change is big. Career, living, kids, family, relationship structures.
What is the biggest change in preparation of marriage for you? What about just life? Email me...jrdisch@yahoo.com.
I got a call back on a PT Production Assistant job at KSTP. I'll call back to hopefully schedule an interview tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it but I'd still like something that's full time.
Just a THANK YOU note now. Thank you for everything you do and have done, thank you for being concerned, thank you for calling and caring, thank you for emailing. Thank you for hanging out with me...thank you for encouraging me.
Today's Takeaway--It's not about me.

Wedding and Life Progress
I am uncertain if it's to be called progress but it's the only word I have for it at the moment.
As I have today off I sit in front of my computer and wonder about all the many decisions I have to make.
Some are significant, some might seem significant and really be trivial and some are just to take up space.
I will be moving out of here at the end of June and into another place on July 1st, hopefully. The stresses that come into play here are how will I pay for that month of living myself? Katy will still be at Linda's and probably unable to pay for it. We have looked at a few apartments so far but haven't liked anything as much as just staying here so far. I would like to at least see 6-8 more and compare what you get for your money. I'm looking forward to being out of here but I just don't know where I'll be yet and would like to nail that down.
How do I figure rent out? When does that stimulus check come again? Soon, I hope, though what do I do with it. Put it to where I owe big money for a certain circular and sparkling object? Do I put it towards honeymoon expenses? Do I use it for that first months rent? Do I further pay down credit card debt? Shouldn't it be here already? Not that I know what to do with it.
I believe we've picked out a harpist for our wedding. Details to come. We're still talking with Sid about a pastor. Hopefully one comes soon or stress city will be back.
I need a job and bad. I don't have as much time to look because I'm back to working 5 days most weeks now. I need some good old fashioned training on resumes and interviewing again. I need to sell myself better, though I don't like sales. I'm an asset and I wish people knew that. I wish I could articulate that better with people.
Do I try an entry level with a TV station and just do it? Do I keep after a marketing/advertising job? Do I take a loan and go to the U of M for grad school? What if that TV station is just part time at first? Then what?
I want to read more. Make your kids read. I didn't read enough as I wish I had. Don't make your kids read so much that they're losers. Just make it into a healthy habit. No good games on? Nothing good on the Tivo? Then read! I always think about reading and writing more but I don't ever execute on it. The internet doesn't care who's time it wastes. (Sort of a Lance-ism, I believe he said "the internet doesn't care who's life it ruins.")
Did you see that story about the ladies softball game where a girl hit a game winning home run, the first of her career and about a .150 hitter? She hit the game winning home run but missed first, and as she went back to touch first she blew her ACL. Sort of pathetic but she couldn't run around the bases any more so two girls on the other team carried her around the bases to ensure the home run and the win. Here's the story.
There's more in this ol' noggin but I think I have to get a couple apartment looks set up and get back to the job search.
Have a good May 1st!
