Katy and I had a very nice Christmas and New Year. Of course, I (we), would have liked to have been in Connecticut with family or even in California with family but we made Minnesota work.
We had Christmas Eve with Josh, Laura, Bob, Deb and Bop and Nana. Christmas Day we just hung out by ourselves and did the Dischinger opening of presents. We also watched some NBA basketball and enjoyed Sherlock Holmes at the theater. We also made dinner at home: ham, mashed potatoes from Christmas Eve, and peas. It was a nice day at home; though it could have been even more eventful but the huge snowfall that was supposed to happen really turned into nothing but rain, drizzle and nothing close to the foot we were supposed to get.
New Year's Day we went to Maple Grove to hang out for lunch with E3, which was good to see them. I just wish some day we could actually hang out for more than lunch. Someday, we'll get to Chicago or have a place where E3 can stay here.
We also saw Avatar in the mix somewhere in there. I was pleasantly surprise at how good it was. I'm not going to be huge on the science fiction aspect or the animated part but I enjoyed the movie. Katy and I saw it in 3D. The story wasn't anything spectacular but the characters and the planet and knowing that they created every single little thing on the screen was pretty impressive.
I didn't think Sherlock Holmes was great. It was fine and I was interested the whole movie but the filming of the movie was really dark and dreary. Though, I understand, that may have just been the time of the story. But it was interesting how they re-connected and lined up parts of the movie that didn't reveal too much too soon but made complete sense once they gave it away to you.
