A couple days with Mom and Dad before they took off to Connecticut and then four more days with Eric, Emily, Eleanor and Edith!
We drove after work on Wednesday night and arrived about 12:30 am, grabbed the key and slid into bed for a few hours. Soon, we were to be up and at 'em on a segway tour of Chicago with Eric, Dad and Katy!
We jumped on right across from Navy Pier and toured through Grant Park and the two yacht clubs while making our way to the Shedd Aquarium while going near the planetarium and going by the Field Museum and Soldier Field.
Dad bought a Chicago hot dog, no ketchup, and I got a delicious bite or two.
However, before that we went up to the Sears Tower, now Willis Tower, and stepped out on the Sky Deck. Man, being at the top of the third highest building in the world wasn't as crazy as it seemed but then you stepped out onto the glass cube and you start thinking about how scary it would be to fall, though the views were incredible! Here's some of that evidence.
Thursday night also consisted of Millennium Park and some jazz music, while watching an eclectic group of people do yoga or some new age dance. I don't know, ask Mom about it.
Friday we went to the Swedish American Museum and then across the road to Tre Kronor for lunch.
Ella was taking tickets for those leaving Sweden to get to America!
Katy and I then went to Oak Park to do that Frank Lloyd House Tour. It was a few blocks of ten or so of his houses that he designed, including the one the tour was based out of, which was one he built and designed and remodeled himself. That was the first house he lived in once he got married.
Saturday morning Eric and I played soccer at their local park and playground. Em, Katy, Ella and Edie came a bit later to watch us. Afterward, we went to the Oak Park Farmer's Market where the five of use polished off a dozen freshly made donuts.
Monday, we went to Garfield Park and the Conservatory. It was very hot and humid and Ella told us about how thirsty she was. I agreed though, it was pretty gross, especially in the humid air of the conservatory. Though, Ella decorated a twig and slid down a slide after.
Later Monday afternoon Em and Eric met us on Michigan Avenue and we went shopping. It was very enjoyable going into a bunch of nice shops and scoring a few items for Emily and Eric. That started the avalanche at home of taking pictures of outfits for Emily. I just hope she looks at the pictures and can tell what I, we, put together for her to wear.
Monday night we went back downtown to take some skyline pictures. Katy set up shop and here's a few of the results that we got from museum campus.
Tuesday, Katy and I took the train from the conservatory to downtown to see the Art Institute of Chicago and wander around a little bit before eating dinner with Em and Eric at Mais and grabbing some Italian ice from Miko's Italian Ice.
Well, that's about it. I've got plenty of more pictures to look at. You'll just have to look at them when you're around these parts again.
Chicago, you were a great city and we had alot of fun. Our hosts were great and I loved every minute of eating breakfast, driving to and fro, hanging out with Ella and Edith and talking to Emily and Eric. I think a return trip is due sooner than the previous interval. You are a big place, Chicago, with plenty do to and see. So we'll come around again and hopefully you'll be just as fun!
