Boston Marathon Slow Mo Videos

I know the Boston Marathon was a few weeks ago but I found these videos and found them to be interesting because of the athletes in them, Ryan Hall and Kara Goucher as well as the running motion-the biomechanics behind running a marathon as fast as they do.

Joel,

So as a runner (and poster of the vids), what do you see in the videos regarding the biomechanics of running that help them to run as fast as they do? What can you take away to help you?

Well, from what I remember in class...making sure your stride isn't too far in front or behind. That'll put the brakes on fast. Making sure you're not wasting energy with excess movement at the ankle or head (bouncing). Hm, just making sure your hips are loose enough to make sure your stride length isn't hindering you. Lot's of small seemingly insignificant things that add up from being a great runner to a runner that wins major marathons. Flotrack did a video on Chris Solinsky's stride. It analyzed all of his angles compared to a world class African runner.
