Unbelievable

This is today just before 4pm.

At 4.29pm it's snowing. Sick and wrong.

Oh yeah and there's more unbelievable-ness.

Stress is striking.

Frustration is festering.

I thought I got a deal from Dr. Dentist. Well, I paid $255 and change just about a month ago for my one tooth root canal. Fine, then I'd owe another $91 on the appointment where I actually get the crown on. Ok, I can hack that.

Well, then it took me two more times to get that crown put on because Dr. Dentist messed up the color on my crown and wanted to send it back. So he did, and I had to come back two days later and take up more of my time. But that's not what I was so concerned about.

It was the fact that the "balance" of my root canal was now not the $91 as originally anticipated but it was $239! Are you kidding me! Where did this extra $148 dollars come into the mix? Or are they not even including the $91 and I really owe another $330? So, I haven't paid them yet because I didn't have my check book. Not that I can really afford another few hundred dollars for one measly tooth!

So...how does this insurance work? Did they even pay for anything? When will people "surprise" you with not an extra couple hundred dollars on your bill but maybe with a whole statement that is readable to the normal person! How "surprising" would that be. It'd be a pleasant one not a pissed off one. As the one I requested only came with a very generic $239 fee on it. Oh great, so now I don't even know what I'm paying for! Where's the customer service in that? I'm too afraid to ask/request something too, like a full statement. I don't like to but that's another blog, that's just more of a personal problem.

Will this crap with insurance ever change? What is the point of insurance? Everywhere I look, insurance doesn't work or you have to front 8-trillion of your own dollars before they pay 8 bucks for a broken nail! Seriously, answer this, will insurance ever change or will I just someday make more money and just not care anymore?

Why do they (the dentist or the insurance company) not tell you what this crap costs up front? All it needed was a little mental preparation and I would have probably been fine with the cost. But come on, $500 bucks for one flipping tooth! But no, they just set you up with 4 appointments to fix 1 tooth and charge you 250% more than anyone would want to pay!

All I wanted was to not spend all of my money on a tooth and be informed of what was going on. But as usual it seems, the insurance company and the dentist not sharing seemingly necessary information to tweak people off. Or maybe just me.

Time to watch the snow fall. Are you kidding me! Snow! Come on!
