Morning Matinee: Blind Side

Katy and I went to see Blind Side this morning. It is a movie about Michael Oher who now is playing for the Baltimore Ravens.

He grew up in Memphis, Tennessee with a drug addicted mom a dad he never knew and was homeless and bounced from home to home in high school. Not until Sean and Leigh Ann Tuohy had him stay with him for the short term did he have somewhere to go. He then was adopted by him before his senior year of high school.

However, he was extremely gifted on the football field in terms of size-height and weight. He had good footwork and strength. So, he played football in high school was recruited by many schools and decided to go to Mississippi. Just this last season he was drafted in the first round in the 20's by the Baltimore Ravens.

It's a great story. Google Michael Oher, read the book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game and watch the movie The Blind Side, released on November 20, 2009.

Up

Katy and I both had today off so what better way to spend it than going to a matinee at the theater to watch Up! We went to the 3D version too so we had to wear 3D glasses. That was neat but I don't ever wear glasses so that was annoying for me.

It's about and elderly guy who is adventurous with his wife because they grew up watching some adventure guy dude. So he ends up hooking up his house to a bunch of balloons setting out for Paradise Falls in South America. However, he has a little boy scout Russell take off with him on this balloon house. They fly to South America and meet up with the old man's boyhood hero who ended up being the villain because he was ostracized because some fossils he found long ago were not up to snuff or something with fellow scientists. Long story short, the villain is trying to get the bird to kill and bring back so he's proven correct on his first finding. And the old man and Russell team up with a dog, Doug, to defeat the old man and the dog ring he has.

Up Website

They win, get the bird safely settled and both move back to America and have Russells final boy scout pinning-Assisting an Elderly Person-and instead of his dad doing it the old man does.

It was a good movie-not as funny as I first thought it might have been but a good flick to watch! :)

Now, it's sunny out and we're tempted to go see the sun!

Until next time!

Life Lately

Catching you up quick to a few goings on...

Last weekend Katy and I went to part of the St. Paul Art Crawl with Nick and Becca to see Adam's work. It was at the Rossmor building in St. Paul. Check out Adam's work.

Oh yeah, we also watched The Soloist. It is a movie about a schizophrenic (Jamie Foxx) who was extremely talented playing the violin, bass and other instruments. But he went crazy at Julliard and was homeless in LA. But a newspaper columnist Steven Lopez (Robert Downey Jr) randomly found him while searching for a story and started to follow him, did some digging, and found that he was a very talented musician. It's a true story, though how truly accurate in the film is always up for debate. But it was a good movie with no concrete end but probably more like a true ending to a movie rather than a Hollywood produced movie.

This weekend I met Katy downtown on Friday night and we wandered through a couple stores and drove home and ate some dinner and watched 7 Pounds with Paul. It was a good movie but was a bit heavy. Without giving too much away it's hard to follow at times with seeming holes in the script and film and has a different ending.

Saturday night I went to the Twins game with Lance, Nick and Paul. It was fun! We sat closer to the Royals bullpen about half way up/down. Lance helped out getting better tickets. It went into extras and we moved down even closer to the bullpen for a couple innings. In the end the Twins lost 10-7 but I had a great time with the guys!

I had to work yesterday and through Thursday so I can go to the MIAC Track Championships this coming weekend. I'm going to watch Friday and Saturday and I can't wait to watch that much track and field! :)

I'm also running the TC 1 Mile on Thursday! I'm looking forward to that as well as watching the higher compeition that's coming!

Here's the course! TC 1 Mile Map

The Participants and Elite List of Who's running

I can't wait to watch!
